Looking for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship? Choose the master’s programme first, then check its own funding call. This guide is for prospective international postgraduate applicants. It is not an announcement that every programme is open.
How the opportunity works
The European Commission’s student guidance describes Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters as international programmes delivered by groups of higher education institutions. Students worldwide can apply. Courses normally last one or two academic years and may award a joint degree or multiple degrees.
Competitive full scholarships may cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa and living expenses. Admission does not automatically include funding. Applicants generally need a bachelor’s degree, be completing one before the programme starts, or hold an officially recognised equivalent level of learning.
Find the programme, not a universal form
Use the official Erasmus Mundus catalogue to find a relevant course, then follow its university or consortium website. Students apply directly to the institution running the programme. The Commission describes October–January as the usual application period for the following academic year, but each programme sets its actual dates and requirements. There is no single closing date or time zone that we can safely give for all courses.
Academic fit
Our suggestion: read the curriculum and mobility plan before concentrating on the award. Write down what the programme teaches that your current qualification does not.
Funding fit
Ask what is covered, how payments work and which costs you must meet yourself. “Full scholarship” is not a personal guarantee that every possible expense is covered.
Build a small application comparison sheet
- Record the exact course title, entry year and official application address. Keep scholarship and self-funded routes separate.
- Copy the course’s scholarship deadline with its stated time zone. If no zone is given, ask the programme office rather than guessing.
- Use the current course checklist for transcripts, degree evidence, language results, references and any motivation statement. These are planning categories, not a universal Erasmus document list.
- Check the study locations, language, mobility requirements and award conditions against your circumstances.
- Save a dated copy of the instructions and leave time for referees and document preparation.
Before you submit
Our practical test is simple: can you explain why this particular course fits your next step, and can another person follow your document checklist? If not, improve the plan before submitting a rushed generic application.
Recheck the programme’s current call immediately before applying. This overview does not verify that a particular consortium has an open 2027 scholarship round, assess your eligibility or replace its selection rules. No admission, scholarship or immigration outcome is guaranteed.
